Chaldean Numerology

Chaldean Numerology is the oldest numerology system known. Chaldean numerology has its origin in ancient Babylon. At that time, Babylon was inhabited by the Chaldeans. The Chaldeans were a group of people, not just a numerology term. This system is related to the Vedic System of India and the Kabbalah System of the Hebrew mystics.

The Chaldean system of numerology is considered by many to be more accurate than the Pythagorean system; however, it is not nearly as widely used. This opinion is based on the belief that Chaldean numerology has been proven to be consistent, accurate, and efficient for thousands of years, for people all over the world. 

The Chaldean numerology differs from Pythagorean, or Western, numerology and Kabbalah numerology in many ways.

One big difference between the Chaldean system and the Pythagorean and Kabbalah systems is that while in Pythagorean and Kabbalah numerology you use the name that is on your birth certificate, in Chaldean numerology you use the name that you are most known by. This could be a nickname, a married name, or just your regular name if that is what you are known by.

The second most important factor, after your name, is your birth number the day of the month in which you were born. The birthday number affects the personality, health, and other factors in Chaldean Numerology.

Another major difference is that it always uses compound or double-digit numbers.  Single digits represent outer influences and double digits represent inner aspects of a person. Your single-digit number is what you appear as in the eyes of the world while your double, or compound, the number represents any hidden influences that play a role in your life and possibly even your future. In Chaldean numerology, while the base and single-digit numbers all have very similar meanings, the compound numbers have a life of their own. In Chaldean numerology, once the physical (single number) and metaphysical (compound number) aspects of your name have been determined, the next important step is your date of birth.

Your date of birth means the day of the month you were born under, for it to have its own occult symbology and significance. Your date of birth is extremely important because it is unchangeable and therefore a constant. A person may undergo a series of name changes over the years because of marriage, adoption, and the like, but the birth date remains the same.

In the Chaldean Numerology system, every letter has a unique vibration and the numbers are assigned to letters on the vibrational value the numbers only go from 1 to 8, and not 1 to 9 – this means the transposition of the numbers assigned to the alphabet is different than in the Pythagorean and Kabbalah systems. In this system, the number nine is a holy number and is separated from other numerical vibrations, except for when it is the sum of all vibrations in question. However, should your name or that of someone you know total 9, then the 9 remains.

The Chaldean System has largely been replaced by the Pythagorean System.

Chaldean Number Vibrations

Single numbers denote what you appear to be in the eyes of others. The meanings of the numbers 1 to 9 belong to the physical or material side of things.

1. Leader, Original Thinker, Independence

One represents the male principle, the yang. It is self-consciousness. It is original, independent, aggressive, individualistic, creative, and dominant; the first in a series is the leader. In standard Tarot One is the Magician or Magus – Divine Purpose.

2. Co-operative, Partner, Diplomat

Two is the pair, the duo, representing the feminine principle of receptivity, the yin, which seeks a union of two distinct entities, thus the development of choice began between good and evil, true and false, and positive and negative. It is adaptable, tactful, understanding, gentle, and cautious; a follower rather than a leader. In standard Tarot Two is The High Priestess – Divine Feminine.

3. Creative, Manifests Ideas, Entrepreneur, Entertainer

Three is manifestation and expansion. It is the performer who possesses an innate appreciation of pleasure, romance, art, and beauty. Its creative imagination allows all things to be possible. It is expansive, sociable, dramatic, communicative, diversified, and creative. In standard Tarot, it is The Empress – Divine Activity.

4. Build, Detailed, Dependable, Constructs

Four is square consciousness, representing the 4 seasons. The symbol of law, system and order. It is firmness, security, stability and consortiums. Four is nature and relates to the earth, therefore develops a practical nature, and through self-discipline, binds itself to a conventional routine and excretes its energy. It is form, work order, practicality, construction, stability, endurance, and discipline. In standard Tarot, it is The Emperor – Divine Overcoming.

5. Communicator, Travel, Writer, Freedom, Lover, Versatile

Five represents vital force. Five is freedom, change and adventure. Five attracts the opposite sex because of the irresistible magnetism, and this attraction set the stage for domestic responsibilities. It is versatility, resourcefulness, adaptability, change, activity, travel, adventure, promotion, and speculation. In standard Tarot, it is The Hierophant – Divine Voice.

6. Healer, Teacher, Lover, Counsellor

On the sixth day, GOD made human beings. “In the image of God created He him, male and female created He them,” (Genesis 1:27) Six is conscientious; it desires to bring harmony, truth, justice and a sense of balance into its environment. Love and compassion are uppermost in its mind, and it can, therefore, be an effective teacher, counsellor or healer. Others are drawn to it because of the understanding, which emanates from it. It is family and social responsibility, service, love, compassion, counselling, healing, and creativity. In standard Tarot, it is The Lovers – Divine Path.

7. Metaphysical, Spiritual, Mediator, Investigator, Seeker

Seven seeks answers. It tries to establish a philosophy by which to live and attempts to penetrate the mystery behind its existence, which it never questioned to this point. Because solitude is necessary for analysis, the seven feel the need to spend time alone, away from the crowds, and in touch with nature. It looks for friendship with those of an elevated consciousness that can match its own. It is quiet, introspective, intuitive, analytical, inspirational, reclusive, philosophical, and mystical. In standard Tarot, it is The Chariot – Divine Victory.

8. Money, Power, Manager, Supervisor

Eight is infinity – that of eternal and continuous spiral motions, which are constant throughout the universe. Eight will always assume power, for it has achieved control and responsibility in its chosen field. Recognition and financial rewards are bestowed and expansion and growth in the business world take place. Eight are power, responsibility, financial rewards, good judgment, and recognition. In standard Tarot, it is Justice – Divine Balance

9. Humanitarian, Sibling, People Person

Nine contains the forces of all the other numbers. It stands for a complete cycle of growth. Nine is Selflessness and Compassion. Encompassing a love for all, it desires to apply its energy to universal service. Nine is love, compassion, patience, universality, tolerance, selfless service, and endings. In standard Tarot, it is The Hermit – Divine Light

Double or compound numbers show any hidden influences that play a role in your life and possibly even your future.

All the numbers from 10 upwards, become compound numbers and have a meaning of their own distinct from the root number. The meaning of compound numbers from 10 onwards belongs to the more occult or spiritual side of life. Distinct symbolism has been given to the compound numbers up to that mysterious number of 52.

10. “Wheel of Fortune”. It is a number of honour, of faith and self-confidence, of rising and fall; one’s name will be known for good or evil, according to one’s desires; it is a fortunate number in the sense that one’s plans are likely to be carried out.

11. This is an ominous number to occultists. It gives warning of hidden dangers, trials, and treachery from others. It has a symbol of a “Clenched Hand”, and “a Lion Muzzled”, and of a person who will have great difficulties contending against.

12. The symbolism of this number is suffering and anxiety of the mind. It is also indicated as “the Sacrifice” or “the Victim” and generally foreshadows one being sacrificed for the plans or intrigues of others.

13. This is a number indicating a change of plans, place and such-like and is not unfortunate, as is generally supposed. In some of the ancient writings, it is said, “He who understands the number 13 will be given power and dominion”. It is symbolized by the picture of a “Skeleton” of “Death,” with a scythe reaping down men, in a field of new-grown grass where young faces and heads appear cropping up on every side. It is a number of upheaval and destruction. It is a symbol of “Power” which if wrongly used will wreak destruction upon oneself. It is a number of warning of the unknown or unexpected if it becomes a “compound” number in one’s calculations.

14. This is a number of movements, a combination of people and things, and danger from natural forces such as tempests, water, air or fire. This number is fortunate for dealings with money, speculation and changes in business, but there is always a strong element of risk and danger attached to it, generally owing to the actions and foolhardiness of others. If this number comes out in calculations of future events the person should be warned to act with caution and prudence.

15. This is a number of occult significance, of magic and mystery; but as a rule, it does not represent the higher side of occultism, its meaning being that the persons represented by it will use every art of magic they can to carry out their purpose. If associated with a good or fortunate single number, it can be very lucky and powerful, but if associated with one of the peculiar numbers, such as a 4 or an 8, the person it represents will not hesitate to use any sort of art, or even ”black magic,” to gain what he or she desires.

It is peculiarly associated with “good talkers,” often with eloquence, gifts of music and art and a dramatic personality, combined with a certain voluptuous temperament and strong personal magnetism. Obtaining money, gifts, and favours from others is a fortunate number.

16. This number has a most peculiar occult symbolism. It is pictured as “a Tower Struck by Lightning from which a man is falling with a Crown on his head.” It is also called “the Shattered Citadel”.

It gives warning of some strange fatality awaiting one, also the danger of accidents and defeat of one’s plans. If it appears as a “compound” number relating to the future, it is a warning sign that should be carefully noted and plans made in advance in the endeavour to avert its fatalistic tendency.

17. This is a highly spiritual number, and is expressed in symbolism by the 8-pointed Star of Venus; a symbol of “Peace and love”. It is also called “the Star of the Magi” and expresses that the person it represents has risen superior in spirit to the trials and difficulties of his life or his career. It is considered a “Number of immortality” and the person’s name “lives after him”. It is a fortunate number if it works out in relation to future events, provided it is not associated with the single number of fours and eights.

18. This number has a difficult symbolism to translate. It is pictured as “a rayed moon from which drops of blood are falling; a wolf and a hungry dog are seen below catching the falling drops of blood in their opened mouths, while still lower a crab is seen hastening to join them.” It is symbolic of materialism striving to destroy the spiritual side of nature. It generally associates a person with bitter quarrels, even family ones, also with war, social upheavals, and revolutions; and in some cases, it indicates making money and position through wars or by wars. It is, however, a warning of treachery, deception by others, and also danger from the elements such as storms, danger from water, fires and explosions. When this “compound” number appears in working out dates in advance, such a date should be taken with a great amount of care, caution and circumspection.

19. This number is regarded as fortunate and extremely favourable. It is symbolized as “the Sun” and is called “the Prince of Heaven.” It is a number of promising happiness, success, esteem and honour and promises success in one’s plan for the future.

20. This number is called “the Awakening”; also “the Judgement”. It is symbolized by the figure of a winged angel sounding a trumpet, while from below a man, a woman, and a child are seen rising from a tomb with their hands clasped in prayer.
This number has a peculiar interpretation; the call to action, but for some great purpose, cause or duty. It is not a material number and consequently is a doubtful one as far as worldly success is concerned. If used in relation to a future event, it denotes delays, and hindrances to one’s plans, which can only be conquered through the development of the spiritual side of nature.

21. This number is symbolized by the picture of “the Universe”, and it is also called “the Crown of the Magi”. It is a number of advancement, honours, elevation in life and general success. It means victory after a long initiation and tests of determination. It is a fortunate number of promises if it appears in any connection with future events.

22. This number is symbolized by “a Good Man blinded by the folly of others, with a knapsack on his back full of Arrows”. In this picture, he appears to offer no defence against a ferocious tiger that is attacking him. It is a warning number of illusion and delusion, a good person who lives in a fool’s paradise; a dreamer of dreams who awakens only when surrounded by danger. It is also a number of false judgments owing to the influence of others. As a number in connection with future events, it is a warning and its meaning should be carefully noted.

23. This number is called “the Royal Star of the Lion.” It is a promise of success, help from superiors and protection from those in high places. In dealing with future events it is a most fortunate number and a promise of success of one’s plans.

24. This number is also fortunate; it promises the assistance and association of those of rank and position with one’s plans; it also denotes gain through love and the opposite sex; it is a favourable number when it comes out in relation to the future events.

25. This is a number denoting strength gained through experience, and benefits obtained through observation of people and things. It is not deemed exactly “lucky”, as its success is given through strife and trials in an earlier life. It is favourable when it appears in regard to the future.

26. This number is full of the gravest warnings for the future. It foreshadows disasters brought about by association with others; ruin by bad speculations, partnerships, unions and bad advice. If it comes out in connection with future events one should carefully consider the path one is treading.

27. This is a good number and is symbolized as “the Sceptre.” It is a promise of authority, power and command. It indicates that reward will come from the productive intellect; that the creative faculties have sown good seeds that will reap a harvest. Persons with this “command” number on their backs should carry out their own ideas and plans. It is a fortunate number if it appears in any connection with future events.

28. This number is full of contradictions. It indicates a person of great promise and possibilities who is likely to see all taken away from him unless he carefully provides for the future. It indicates loss through trust in others, opposition and competition in trade, the danger of loss through the law, and the likelihood of having to begin life’s road over and over again.

29. It is not a fortunate number for the indication of future events. This number indicates uncertainties, treachery, and deception of others; it foreshadows trials, tribulation, unexpected dangers, unreliable friends, and grief and deception caused by members of the opposite sex. It gives a grave warning if it comes out in anything concerning future events.

30. This is a number of thoughtful deduction, retrospection, and mental superiority over one’s fellows, but as it seems to belong completely to the mental plane, the persons it represents, are likely to put all material things on one side — not because they have to, but because they wish to do so. For this reason, it is neither fortunate nor unfortunate, for either depends on the mental outlook of the person it represents. It can be all-powerful, but it is just as often indifferent according to the will or desire of the person.

31. This number is very similar to the preceding one, except that the person it represents is even more self-contacted, lonely, and isolated from his fellows. It is not a fortunate number from a worldly or material standpoint.

32. This number has a magical power like the single 5, or the “command” numbers 14 and 23. It is usually associated with combinations of people or nations. It is a fortunate number if the person it represents holds to his own judgment and opinions; if not, his plans are likely to be wrecked by the stubbornness and stupidity of others. It is a favourable number if it appears in connection with future events.

33. This number has no potency of its own and consequently has the same meaning as 24 — which are also a 6 — and the next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

34. Has the same meaning as the number 25, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

35. Has the same meaning as the number 26, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

36. Has the same meaning as the number 27, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

37. This number has a distinct potency of its own. It is a number of good and fortunate friendships in love, and in combinations connected with the opposite sex. It is also good for partnerships of all kinds. It is a fortunate indication if it appears in connection with future events.

38. Has the same meaning as the number 29, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

39. Has the same meaning as the number 30, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

40. Has the same meaning as the number 31, which is the one next to it in its own series of “compound” numbers.

43. This is an unfortunate number. It is symbolized by the signs of revolution, upheaval, strife, failure, and prevention and is not a fortunate number if it comes out in calculations relating to future events.

51. This number has a very powerful potency of its own. It represents the nature of the warrior; it promises sudden advancement in whatever one undertakes; it is especially favourable for those in military or naval life and for leaders in any cause. At the same time, it threatens enemies, dangers and the likelihood of assassination.

52. Has the same meaning as 43.

We have now completed the 52 numbers which represent the 52 weeks of our year.

The meanings of the numbers in the Chaldean system are similar to the meanings in the Kabbalah and Pythagorean.  All numbers, regardless of which system you use, will have very similar meanings, characters, symbols, and general nature.
