Cleanse and Charge your Amulet or Talisman

What I am presenting here is not “the one true way” to charge your Amulet or Talisman.  There are as many ways to bless an object as there are religious, magickal and folk traditions. You can search the internet and find any number of ways.

You might want to do an additional cleansing of your pendant before you begin.  Set it out overnight under the moonlight, sprinkle with salt, or smudge it with incense, etc.

The purpose of charging your Amulet or Talisman is to get yourself in touch with the universal energy meme or magical subroutine attached to the symbol; to personalize the Amulet or Talisman with your specific intent, and to activate that intent in the universe. It is advisable to form a link between yourself and the cosmic forces that will operate through it by performing the simple act of empowerment described below.

You will need the following:

– A quiet room

– An Alter (a small table covered with a white cloth)

– A glass of water

– A white candle

– A few pinches of salt

– Incense (Frankincense and Sandalwood are two options if you aren’t sure what to use.)

Light the incense as an offering to God.
Place the Amulet or Talisman upon the altar.

Replace the word Amulet with Talisman if that is what you are cleansing and charging. You can also replace the name of God with a name you prefer if you so choose.

Focus on the outcome you want to achieve, and how it feels, rather than your need. Focus on feeling safe and invulnerable.

Be as specific as you can, and take time to ask for clarity if needed.

Sprinkle the Amulet/Talisman with salt.
“I cleanse you with the element of Earth.”

Pass the Amulet/Talisman through the incense.
“I cleanse you with the element of Air.”
Pass the Amulet/Talisman through a candle flame.
“I cleanse you with the element of Fire.”

Sprinkle the Amulet/Talisman with water.
“I cleanse you with the element of Water.”

Pick up the Amulet/Talisman, and hold it up high for God to behold.
“You are now cleansed in the name of the Tetragrammaton”

Place the Amulet/Talisman back on the altar Pentacle.
Place hands over the Amulet/Talisman.
Visualize a Brilliant light from above pouring into the Amulet/Talisman.

“I charge this Amulet/Talisman to serve as (the name that which you desire its purpose to serve) for I [your name or magickal name] a servant of God Almighty.”

I charge this Amulet/Talisman by God Almighty:
I charge this Amulet/Talisman by the virtues of the Sun, Moon, and Stars
I charge this Amulet/Talisman by the Elemental powers of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
I empower this Amulet/Talisman for (whatever purpose it is designed to perform). I imbue you with all the powers of the universe to enable you to carry out your task, and I thank you in advance for all the energy, power, and comfort that you offer to me.

Gaze at the Amulet/Talisman for another thirty seconds, and then say “thank you” to it. Spread your arms out wide and look upwards, while saying “thank you” again.
By the name of the Tetragrammaton.
You are now charged!
Say “Thank You for” and name your outcome. (Some traditions say things like “So Mote It Be”.)

Your Amulet or Talisman is now cleansed of all outside influences and charged ready for use.

Your Talisman is now working for you, in conjunction with the cosmic forces, be prepared for some positive changes in your life. When you put it on, remember your purpose, and when you take it off, give thanks again.

Your amulet/talisman is now ready for use. It will serve you faithfully, and the properties you imbued into it will last forever. This is not always desirable and, once your goal has been achieved, you will need to deactivate the amulet/talisman. Most of the time, you will be able to do this by destroying the amulet/talisman, after thanking it sincerely for helping you.

If the amulet/talisman can be burned, you can create a small ritual using a candle. Light the candle and stand in front of it holding the amulet/talisman in your cupped hands. Acknowledge the archangels in the four cardinal directions by bowing to them, starting in the east, and following with the south, west, and north. Thank the talisman for everything it has done; hold it high in the air for a few moments, and then burn it in the candle flame.

Obviously, you will not be able to do this if the amulet/talisman cannot be burned. However, you can still thank it, break it, and then bury it in the ground. If the amulet/talisman is made of a valuable substance, such as gold or silver, you can remove the talismanic influences by formally thanking it for three days in a row.

Achieve your Goals

If you wear a talisman for financial success, your subconscious mind will work toward this goal and bring financial opportunities to your attention. In this instance, it could be said that your belief in the talisman is providing the necessary power to allow the process to work. Certainly, there is no point in wearing a talisman of any sort if you do not believe in it. This is because your scepticism would override the talisman’s programming.
Experiment with a variety of amulets, and talismans and see what happens. I believe that you will gain more self-assurance, power, and control over every aspect of your life. This is because you will be harnessing the powers of the universe to attract what you want, and repel what you don’t want. Use them for good, and create the life you deserve.
