Zodiac Signs in Western Astrology
In Western Astrology, there are several house systems that are still used, while the most common one at the moment is the Placidus system the 12 signs that stand for the 12 periods of a year.
Houses are divided into 12 regions numbered counter-clockwise from the cusp of the first house, (Aries) each arc equal to 30°, the total is 360° and each is called a constellation. Connecting all bright stars in a constellation with lines, different images in the shape of animals and objects are formed. People named each constellation according to its shape.
The astrologists divide a year into 12 periods, during each period the sun is in a constellation area. So, everyone has a corresponding zodiac sign according to the period his / her birthday lies in.
People believe that different sun signs of the zodiac present different characteristics and talents.
